Revving Up For A Good Cause: San Benito County Scouting’s Corporate Pinewood Derby

What is the Pinewood Derby?
For those unfamiliar, the Pinewood Derby is a time-honored tradition in scouting where participants design and build their own miniature wooden race cars. Each car is crafted from a block of wood, wheels, and axles provided by the organizers, allowing for boundless creativity and innovation.

Once completed, the cars race down a specially designed track, and the excitement is palpable as they zoom toward the finish line.

Why Participate?
1. Support Local Scouting: Proceeds from the event will directly benefit San Benito County Scouts,
funding programs, camps, and educational opportunities that foster leadership and teamwork in our youth.
2. Team Building: This event is an excellent opportunity for local businesses to foster camaraderie among employees. Collaborating on a Pinewood Derby car encourages creativity and teamwork in a
relaxed setting.
3. Community Engagement: Join fellow community members in a celebration of creativity and fun. The event will include food, music, and activities for families, making it a great outing for everyone.
How to Get Involved
● Register Your Team: Businesses are invited to form teams of up to five members. Each team will receive a Pinewood Derby kit and a set of guidelines to help you get started. You also have the opportunity to have a local scout build your car. We have scouts that are willing to build your car and race it on your behalf.
● Car Design and Build: Teams will have the chance to showcase their ingenuity! We encourage all participants to think outside the box. Prizes will be awarded for speed, design, and creativity.
● Attend Race Day: Mark your calendars for October 26th! Bring your family and friends to cheer on the racers at Greenwood Ford in Hollister and participate in fun activities for all ages.
