The San Benito County Warming Shelter, open now through March 31, 2017, is seeking five to seven “compassionate and dependable individuals with great customer service skills” to work in the shelter, which has hours from 4:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. 

Prospective part-time workers, who will be paid $12.21 hourly, must “understand treating everyone with dignity and respect and who are able to work the hours above,” according to the county Health and Human Services Agency. The qualifications include some customer service and computer experience. Candidates are required to complete an application, interview and pass a criminal fingerprint check. All employees need to have a valid drivers’ license.

The position is not to exceed 29 hours per week. Paper applications can be picked up in Staff Services, Suite 208, 1111 San Felipe Road.

This is the second year of operation for the Warming Shelter, which has a 40-bed capacity. The shelter offers a bed, a locker and same-room occupancy through the end of March. Dinner, breakfast and lunch are also provided to each guest who resides at the shelter. There are two shifts for shelter staff — from 4 p.m. to 1 .a.m and midnight to 9 a.m. Sunday through Saturday. The shelter also offers support services to the guests who reside there.
