After years being held downtown, the annual Fourth of July Kiddie Parade is set to take place on Memorial Drive across from Sunnyslope Elementary School in Hollister at 10 a.m. on July 4.
The event is organized by the Hollister Parks and Recreation Department and is highlighted by children riding their decorated scooters and bicycles. Families have also historically decorated strollers.
The new parade route will begin on Memorial Drive at the medical office parking lot near Verdun Avenue and continue to the Veterans Memorial Park parking lot where participants can engage in post-parade activities.
Check-in will be conducted between 9 a.m.-9:45 a.m.
Betsy Ross and Uncle Sam, portrayed by Ruth Erickson and Jim Hart, will be leading the way, and kids will have an opportunity to take pictures with them following the parade.
After the parade, a Hollister City Council member will give a speech to the attendees.
Kids will be offered snacks and drinks after the parade. They will also be given a small U.S. flag they can keep.
The event was previously held in downtown Hollister but changed location because of the Hollister Independence Rally.
