Update: July 5, 10:56 a.m. Fire is 100% contained. Total acres burned 18.5.
Cal Fire and Hollister Fire are responding to a 17-acre fire at the 300 block of Cowden Road in Hollister. Fire is burning near the San Benito River.
The Cal Fire web site reports zero containment as of 1:58 p.m. July 4. Firefighters are attacking the blaze from air and ground.
Watch Duty reports a dozer line has been completed across the head of the fire and the fire has been knocked down.
The fire was first reported at 12:28 p.m., on July 4.
Cause of ignitation is under investigation.
This is the second fire Cal Fire responded to on July 4. Around 7:30 a.m. the Sabe Fire in Tres Pinos was reported but firefighers were able to contain it within a few hours.
