The hills are green, creeks are flowing and drought concerns have been lessened with all of the winter rain in San Benito County, but flood-weary residents in the Lovers Lane/San Felipe Road area north of Hollister are keeping a weather eye out on forecasts that call for another, extended rainy period locally.
The National Weather Service said a weather front arriving Wednesday night will spread southward into the Bay Area for the Thursday morning commute. That system will quickly exit the region before another storm arrives by Friday with another round of wind and rain, according to the NWS.
More storms possible over the weekend with several inches of rain possible over the period from early Thursday through Sunday. Expected impacts will include river and creek flooding, strong damaging winds and possible land/mudslides that will lead to possible road closures.
A hazardous weather outlook issued by the weather service includes all of SAn Benito County. Following seasonably mild temperatures on Valentine’s Day, the rain arrives. Some lingering showers Thursday night into Friday morning will lead to another another round of light to moderate rain.
Showers are predicted to end by Saturday morning then a “general lull” in the wet weather will set in Saturday and Sunday. The next organized storm arrives Sunday night into Monday with another round of wind and rain. Periods of rain may last through Wednesday of next week.
