The California Highway Patrol's Hollister-Gilroy Area office has partnered with Gilroy High School to offer a free, interactive safe-driving class for parents/guardians and their teens on May 25.

The primary objective of “Start Smart” is to illustrate how a poor choice behind the wheel of a car can affect the lives of numerous people. The class will also encompass the following:The responsibilities of newly-licensed drivers, responsibilities of parents/guardians, rules of the road and collision avoidance techniques.

The class will be held in the Gilroy High School Library on Thursday, May 25 from 6-8 p.m. The high school is located at 750 W. Tenth Street in Gilroy.

Each teen in attendance must be accompanied by at least one parent or legal guardian. Being enrolled in Gilroy High School is not a requirement to attend. All are welcome.
