On May 1, the Hollister Police Department arrested Hollister resident Joe Parra Jr., 24, for a strong-arm robbery that occurred April 19.
On the 19th, near midnight, Hollister Police officers responded to the area of Memorial Drive and Meridian Street regarding a reported robbery, the HPD said in a press release. Responding officers located a 25-year-old Hollister resident who had allegedly been assaulted by two unknown subjects. Medical aid was summoned to the scene for the victim, who was later released with moderate injuries.
The investigation revealed the victim was walking in the area when he was allegedly approached by the suspects, who demanded his money. When the victim offered the suspects a small amount of money, the suspects assaulted the victim and took his wallet, police said. No weapons were used in the assault.
Follow-up investigation completed by patrol officers and detectives led to an identification of Parra as one of the two suspects in the case. On May 1, detectives were conducting unrelated follow-up when they spotted Parra driving. Officers responded and Parra was taken into custody without incident. He was booked at the San Benito County Jail on a single charge of 211 PC – Robbery. His bail is set at $35,000.
