A Hollister Prep School sixth grade STEM teacher has been arrested on suspicion of possession of child pornography.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Rory Dickson on Friday after an investigation prompted by a CyberTipline report from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, which indicated a person in San Benito County was suspected of possessing child pornography, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
Sheriff’s Detectives initiated an investigation and then served a search warrant on the suspect.
The release indicated that as a result of evidence obtained during the search, Dickson was confirmed as the suspect. He was arrested and booked into San Benito County Jail where he is being held on a no-bail warrant.
Detectives continue to investigate the case, according to the release, and are urging any current or former students who may have had contact with Dickson from 2017 to the present to come forward if they believe they were victimized.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Sheriff’s Detective Cedeno at (831) 901-5061, or Detective Simpson at (831) 265-6941.
As of Feb. 13, Dickson’s name did not appear on the Hollister Prep website.
On Friday, Hollister School District released a message acknowledging it was aware of the reports and allegations concerning a Hollister Prep staff member, adding it is “very concerned.” The district also clarified that while Hollister Prep operates on a campus within the district, it is managed, governed and operated independently by Navigator Schools and that allegations regarding staff at Hollister Prep are matters for Navigator to address.
Hollister Prep did not return a call from BenitoLink by publication time.
