February 24, 1952 – February 18, 2026
Aggie was born in the old Hazel Hawkins Hospital on Monterey Street in Hollister on Feb. 24th, 1952 and she almost made it to her 74th birthday. Â Aggie grew up in a loving home with her brothers Mike and Francisco, her sister Yolie, her mother Aurora and her stepfather, Francisco.
Aggie did well as a student despite not speaking fluent English when she began her school career in the first grade. She attended Hollister Grammar, R.O. Hardin, and San Benito High School. Â She excelled in high school, graduating high in her Class of 1970.
Aggie enjoyed attending Fresno State University for 4 years, earning her Bachelor of Science degree and Teaching Credential and graduating with Honors in 1974. Â She started her teaching career in the Huron/Coalinga School District in the Central Valley, teaching there for 1 year.
She began her storied tenure in the Hollister School District in 1975, teaching first grade at Sunnyslope School. Â She would also teach an intervention class while at Sunnyslope and excelled at team teaching with other district teachers. Â She would eventually teach at Calaveras, R. O. Hardin, Cerra Vista, Ladd Lane, and Rancho San Justo Schools.
In 1987, Aggie began her master’s program at San Jose State University in the Education Administration major.  That same year, she was named to her first administrative assignment as the Assistant Principal at Rancho San Justo Middle School.  Aggie obtained her master’s degree in 1999 and was hired as the Principal of Cerra Vista School where she served for five years.
She finished her administration career at the school she attended as a little girl, as Principal of R.O. Hardin, where she retired after 39 years of service.
In 1979, she met Chuck, who was working as a teacher at San Juan School at the time. They were married on March 29, 1980, and began their life together in San Juan before buying their first and only home in Hollister in January of 1982.
Their first child, Carlos, was born in December 1982. Their second, Alan, born in January of 1986, tragically passed away after a brief battle with spinal meningitis in November of the same year. Their daughter, Isela, was born in April 1989 followed by Luis in June of 1991.
In 2002, the family was able to purchase a vacation cabin near Yosemite, where their kids and, eventually, their grandkids grew up loving all that the mountains had to offer. Â Aggie loved travelling with her family and was able to visit Hawaii, Mexico, Spain, Peru, France and Scotland in her lifetime.
In her retirement, Aggie was honored to lend a helping hand at the Hollister School District when they needed an experienced administrator. She greatly enjoyed continuing to do what she loved best, even in retirement.
Aggie was preceded in death by her son, Alan, her brother, Francisco, her mother, Aurora and her step-stepfather, Francisco. She leaves behind her sister Yolie and her brother Mike, along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Â Aggie is survived by her husband, Chuck, her children, Carlos, Isela and Luis, and her beautiful grandchildren, Jade, Charlie, Alba and Nina.
Funeral services and Mass for Aggie will take place on Saturday February 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church in Hollister. Â A reception will follow the church service at The Barrell Room at Leal Vineyards, 300 Maranatha Dr. in Hollister, starting at 1 p.m. Â The driveway for Leal Vineyards is on Fairview Rd, just South of St. Benedict Catholic Church.
With humility, we’ve set up a GoFundMe to help cover funeral and final expenses for our beloved Aggie.
