Beginning April 1, Jacob’s Heart Children’s Cancer Support Services will welcome Erik Lua as the organization’s new Chief Executive Officer. Lua brings both professional experience and a deeply personal connection to the organization. His first experience with Jacob’s Heart was as a middle school volunteer, shaping his long-term commitment to supporting families facing serious illness and his passion to make an impact in his community. He most recently served with Hospice Giving Foundation, a longtime partner of Jacob’s Heart, where he advanced philanthropic efforts across Monterey County.

Jacob’s Heart currently supports 429 families whose children are facing pediatric cancer across the Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, San Benito and Monterey Counties. As CEO, Lua will support families as they navigate this difficult journey, ensuring Jacob’s Heart provides the love and care they need. He will lead strategic planning and financial management, oversee the dedicated staff at Jacob’s Heart, and strengthen community partnerships.

“The Board is excited to welcome Erik to Jacob’s Heart and watch him continue the incredible work being done across Santa Cruz, Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Clara Counties,” Board President Jordan Thorpe.
