San Benito County announces the start of the Fairview Rehabilitation Project, which will improve roadway conditions and extend the service life of Fairview Road for residents, agricultural operators, and travelers throughout the area.

Preliminary construction activities began on May 27, 2026, and the project is now preparing for major roadway rehabilitation work during the week of June 8, weather permitting.

Construction activities, scheduled for Monday, June 8, and Tuesday, June 9, will include grinding and paving operations on roadways in both the northbound and southbound directions. Additional work will include shoulder improvements, roadway delineation, and installation of permanent pavement striping. Project schedules are subject to change based on weather conditions and other operational factors.

Construction work will generally occur during the following hours:

  • Paving operations: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • All other construction activities: 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Motorists can expect temporary traffic controls, lane restrictions, reduced speeds, and brief delays while work is underway. County officials encourage drivers to use caution in construction zones, follow posted signage, and allow additional travel time during active construction periods.

The project is anticipated to continue through June, weather permitting. Following paving operations, crews will complete permanent striping and final project closeout activities.

San Benito County appreciates the public’s patience and cooperation during construction as these improvements are completed. The project will provide a smoother roadway surface and help preserve critical transportation infrastructure for residents and visitors throughout the county.
