Sun Street Centers is recognizing National Recovery Month this September by celebrating the progress of people in recovery and raising awareness about the importance of support, understanding, and reducing stigma around substance use and mental health.
This year’s Recovery Month theme, “Recovery is REAL (Restoring Every Aspect of Life),” highlights the many ways recovery can affect a person’s life. Recovery can help people strengthen their health, relationships, education, employment, and connections within their community.
Throughout September, cities across the local area will recognize National Recovery Month through official proclamations. These proclamations are an opportunity for community leaders to show their support for people and families affected by substance use and mental health challenges and to recognize the work being done to support recovery.
City Proclamation Presentations:
- Tuesday, September 1 (City of Salinas at 5:00PM, City of King at 6:00PM, and City of Marina and City of Sand City at 6:30 p.m.)
- Tuesday, September 8 (City of Gonzales at 6:00 p.m.)
- Tuesday, September 15 (City of San Luis Obispo at 5:30 p.m.)
- Monday, September 21 (City of Hollister at 4:00 p.m.)
Sun Street Centers invites community members to join us throughout September in recognizing those who are working toward recovery, along with the families, professionals, and community organizations that continue to support them. Together, we can help create communities where people feel supported and encouraged on their path to recovery.
