On Sept. 10, the San Benito High School District announced that Balers varsity football head coach Thomas Sullivan had been placed on paid administrative leave.
According to a district press release, the district is conducting an investigation related to the football program.
“Because the investigation is ongoing, the District is unable to provide additional details at this time,” the press release stated.
Hollister High Communications Officer Adam Breen repeated that the district could not provide additional information in response to multiple questions by BenitoLink, including whether students’ safety was compromised or if other people were involved in the investigation.
Sullivan also declined to comment stating it “would not be appropriate of me at this time while we’re in this process.”
He said he would be available to speak on the matter following the conclusion of the investigation.
Former Hollister High School football coach Chris Cameron will serve as the interim varsity head coach until further notice.
The Balers are 2-0 this season and are scheduled to play the Wilcox High School Chargers Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at Andy Hardin Stadium.
