The summer fire season is one of the most challenging seasons for the Hollister Fire Department. Fire Chief Bob Martin Del Campo shares, “This year California is experiencing pre-existing dry conditions along with record-setting heat. It imposes a critical risk, especially in the wildland area.”

Del Campo explains that the community must work together when it comes to fire safety during the summer time. This means that community members must be responsible when handling fire of any kind, including fireworks or outside bonfires.

Fire Captain, Josh Buzzetta, also reminds the community not to be careless when disposing of fireworks, even after the Fourth of July holiday.  “Being careless with handling fires causes great damage. Fireworks is a huge one. Not only aerial fireworks, but also safe and sane ones. Once they are done lighting off, if you put them next to the house, the potential of them starting a structure fire is pretty great.

If people are not careful with their actions, the consequences can be very hazardous.
