It seems hard to believe that the beginning of fall semester is almost upon us. For many Gavilan College students, this will be the first day that they, or in some cases anyone in their families, has attended college. For others it is a day to celebrate continuing their higher education, returning to the classroom to get closer to their goals.
As the superintendent/president of Gavilan College, I plan to mark this momentous day as I did last fall, with a walk through campus (and each of the satellite sites), welcoming students to our college community.
I invite community leaders to walk with me at one of our locations — after all, Gavilan College students are our future police officers, nurses, business owners, and public officials. Gavilan College is YOUR community college, a place where we all are connected in our caring for the educational growth of our community.
The walks will take place on the first day of fall semester, Monday August 28, on the following schedule:
8:30 a.m. – Hollister Briggs Building
10 a.m. Â –Â Gilroy campus
11:30 a.m. – San Martin Aviation Technology site
1:30 p.m. – Morgan Hill site
3 p.m. – Coyote Valley Center
I would be honored by your presence and hope you will join me. Please RSVP to find out where the walks will begin at each location by calling (408) 848-4711.
Sincerely,
Kathleen A. Rose, Ed.D
Superintendent / President
