BenitoLink Content Manager Nicholas Preciado was successful with his Valentine’s Day proposal. He popped the question at midnight with a lemon cake from Heavenly Bakery (his girlfriend’s favorite) with “Will you marry me?” written in icing on top.

Preciado and his new fiancée, Emilia Chavez, have been together since 2013. They first met in the English program at Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA.

Though he didn’t get down on one knee, the local reporter proposed using a family heirloom: a ring that dates back to the Victorian era. It has been in Chavez’s family for generations.

The couple expects a long engagement as they plan for the big day.

Congrats to the happy couple!
