The Redeemed Team is a group of Christians from various churches in our local community who have been meeting on a weekly basis since 2005 to fellowship and study God’s word together. We also have a heart for youth in our community where they can feel welcomed, safe and most of all, loved unconditionally.
As a part of their commitment to youth in San Benito County, the Redeemed Team is sponsoring the Silver Ring Thing. This exciting FREE event has been featured on The Today Show, 60 Minutes, O’Reily Show, Good Morning America and others and will be returning once again on May 1, 2014 at the High School in the Old Gym. (Bring $20 for the ring).Â
The Pre-Event begins at 3:30 P.M. and features former San Bentio High School student Bria O’Conner who is now a part of the singing duo Robby & Bria: who exist to awaken a generation of dreamers. Exploring themes of love and longing, R&B’s songs invoke the deepest of emotions and leave listeners with hope and healing.
6:30 PM –Parent Session:Â Research shows that parents have more impact on their child’s sexual decision making than any other influence- including that child’s peers! (Medical Institute) Parents are the primary sex educator in their child’s life and play a VITAL role in influencing behaviors and attitudes. But what do you say, and when? How do you raise a standard in your home while the rest of the world is trying to tear it down?
6:30 PM-MAIN EVENT: This Live 2-hour stage performance incorporates high energy music, videos, skits, special affects, and comedy delivered in a concert-style approach with which teenagers can respond and relate. It’s a message full of hope, boldness, and truth that’s jam-packed with powerful speaking and personal testimonies. The program also proclaims the grace-filled message of the Gospel, going way beyond a call to abstinence to full life in Jesus Christ!
Following the event, students who make a commitment to purity may wear a SRT ring as a symbol and reminder of their decision. They are connected to local churches for ongoing discipleship and growth while also being equipped through follow-up emails, text messages and devotional guides from SRT. This event is designed for teenagers but is also relevant to college and young adult ages. A parent’s session is also held at each event to educate parents about what is happening in today’s youth culture and how they can encourage and support their child’s commitment to wait.
The Redeemed Team is also one of the sponsors for the “Taking Back Our Street” Youth Rally scheduled for Saturday, May 10, 2014 at Veteran’s Memorial Park from 10am-6pm.Â
