San Benito County departments are reintroducing a program that assists residents in saving money on prescription drugs and helps fund services at the county library.
The San Benito County Free Library and the San Benito Integrated Waste Department Management — through its contract refuse and recycling collector, Recology — are partnering to promote the Coast2Coast Rx program, a prescription discount program that has been available to San Benito County residents since July 2010. The Coast2Coast Rx card allows county residents — regardless of income, age, or health status — to participate in the program and save on the cost of their medications.
A $1.25 donation is generated for county programs each time a prescription is filled using the Coast2Coast Rx card. Pet medications may also be covered.
The prescription card can be used at all pharmacy chains and most independent pharmacies in San Benito County and includes more than 60,000 drugs.
Residents can learn more about this discount program and print a free card by visiting www.coast2coastrx.com. Blue prescription cards (English/Spanish) are also available at the County Library or may be printed by clicking on the “Prescription Discount Card” link from its website at www.sanbenitofl.org. Â
Hollister and county residents may have already received their Coast2Coast Rx card enclosed with their Recology bill. The Board of Supervisors and county departments are encouraging residents to use their card not only for themselves but also for its added value in helping to fund library services.
TheSan Benito County Free Library is located at 470 Fifth St. in Hollister. For more information, call 831-636-4107.        Â
