As of 4:33 p.m. on July 21, 486 people have tested positive for the coronavirus in San Benito County since February. Sixty-eight are active patients, 416 have recovered and two have died. For the most updated information, visit the San Benito County COVID-19 Dashboard.


Schools
Schools sports throughout the state have been postponed for the next four months.
Openings
The John Smith Road Landfill is open during regular operating hours, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The following operations at the landfill are adjusted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and public health recommendations for social distancing:
- Acceptance of self-haul customers (credit card only, no cash) and commercial/industrial customers with an account or credit card
- Safety vests provided by the landfill are laundered after each use.

The deadline to apply for the San Benito County COVID-19 Disaster Relief Grant Program has been extended to July 27.

The application deadline for recovery grants from the Community Foundation for San Benito County has been extended to July 31.

Tips for avoiding COVID-19 Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
- Keep a minimum of a six feet physical distance from others.
- Avoid people who are sick.
- Stay at home. Only leave to take care of essential errands.
- Cover your cough and sneeze.
- Cover your face (mouth and nose) with protective covering when in public
- Disinfect frequently touched objects.
- If you think you might be infected call your health care professional and follow their directions.
