The boys’ varsity volleyball team started its season with a 2-5 record under Coach Javier Castaneda, who also coached the girls’ freshmen team during the fall. Growing pains were expected for the 10-man roster, half of which is freshmen, including: Jack Breger, Chris Gonzalez, Dominic Garcia, Saul Martinez, and Miguel Gonzalez.
Breger says, “Playing on varsity will be a great challenge for me and will help develop my skills.”
Just one of the two seniors on varsity, 6-foot-7 Gabe Ventura says, “I feel confident our team will play well this season.”
The junior varsity team has started the season with a 2-2 record, with a roster of 10 players under new coach, Andy Mora. JV will play just 10 league games because some high schools don’t have JV teams.
Freshmen Miguel Molina says, “I feel this is going to be a great season for JV.”
