Help Create Safe Streets for Everyone – Nash/Tres Pinos/Sunnyslope Road & McCray Streeet

Bring your friends and neighbors to share your ideas at a Community Walk and Design Workshop. Walk the Streets with the Design Team from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Develop your Design Solutions from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Rancho San Justo School Gym, 1201 Ranch Drive. Spanish translation will be provided. Snacks, refreshments and childcare will also be provided.
Why attend? The City of Hollister in partnership with the San Benito County Council of Governments received a grant from the California Department of Transportation to prepare a plan to improve Nash/Tres Pinos/Sunnyslope Road and McCray Street for all types of users: pedestrians, shoppers, cyclists, transit riders, seniors, school children, people with disabilities and motorists. The plan will be called a Complete Streets Plan.
A professional design team with a bi-lingual speaker will translate your input into solutions to improve safety and mobility for people of all ages and abilities along and across the Nash/Tres Pinos/Sunnyslope corridor. The team will also work with you to develop ideas for the future of McCray Street.
The grant will not provide money to install changes on the streets but the Complete Streets Plan will provide a framework to take steps to improve mobility and access by making it easier for people to travel along these important corridors and access goods, services and residences. By encouraging more residents to walk, bicycle and take transit these plans will make more efficient use of the existing transportation system at the same time that they reduce pollutant emissions from motor vehicles that damage our environment.
