There are many ways to celebrate Pinnacles National Park during National Park Week. Free admission all this week certainly helps the casual explorer come enjoy all of what Pinnacles and the National Park Service has to offer. Every year, Earth Day falls within National Park Week, giving visitors an opportunity to protect and preserve our National Park through community service.Â
This year, Pinnacles will be hosting a service project in celebration of Earth Day on Saturday, April 23. Commencing at 9 a.m. at the East Entrance Visitor Center, volunteers will take part in efforts to clean and restore the park. Teams of volunteers will hit the trails to clean up litter, helping save California condor chicks from micro-trash in the process. Other volunteer teams will help restore native plant habitat in and around the campground. The project will last until 12:30 p.m. and will be followed by a wrap up to report the work they accomplished, as well as a raffle and volunteer appreciation.
Earth Day is not the only day to get involved. To celebrate the Park Service turning 100, Pinnacles will host centennial service days monthly. Join one or join them all!  Please contact the Volunteer Office for more information at pinn_volunteer@nps.gov or at 831-389-4486 x243.  Future centennial service days are also listed www.pinnaclespartnership.org/events  Â
Elevate yourself to more than a casual explorer, get involved in service and become part of the Pinnacles family dedicated to preserving the beauty of Pinnacles National Park for the next generation park visitors.  Â
