In a remarkable celebration uniting education and innovation, Deep-Space Robotics (DSR), Hollister High School’s (HHS) Robotics and Engineering Team, and San Benito Robotics are jointly hosting “Technology Innovation Day – from the Classroom to Career.”

Their collective mission is to illuminate the journey from classroom education to promising careers, all while shining a spotlight on the exceptional technological prowess budding among our local youth and the cutting-edge innovations nurtured by homegrown technology companies.

The entire community is invited to immerse themselves in an atmosphere brimming with excitement and curiosity. Mark your calendars for Sunday, February 4th, from 11 am to 3 pm at the Strada Verde Information Center, 354 1st Street, in Hollister. Families, students, children, and tech enthusiasts alike will have the opportunity to witness the incredible creations brought to life by these young students and explore the boundless frontier of technology.

Thien Vu-Nguyen, HHS’s Robotics and Engineering Head Coach, articulates the event’s objective: “Technology Innovation Day is all about charting a course from classroom education to fulfilling careers. It’s about igniting the spark of innovation in the next generation of students of all ages, effectively bridging the gap between learning and practical application, and reinforcing the idea that our youth are the architects of a brighter technological future.”

In addition to the impressive student displays and college and university representation including University of California Berkeley Robotics, University of California Merced Robotics, Gavilan College Engineering Department and others, local technology companies including OSI Engineering, Summit Interconnect, PG&E, Graniterock, Teknova, John Deer/Blue River and others, will seize the spotlight to showcase their cutting-edge innovations. These companies are poised to display a variety of technologies that are shaping the future. Attendees will not only have the opportunity of witnessing these innovations but also have the opportunity to engage directly with these industry professionals.

Michael Martinez, Head of Communications for Conectado Inc. and a founding mentor of HHS Robotics and Engineering Team, emphasizes the pivotal role of events like this noting they play a pivotal role in forging connections between our local talent and advanced educational institutions as well as high-tech companies. “It’s a win-win scenario – our community gains insights into the path from classroom to career, while simultaneously witnessing the immense potential our students possess as the workforce of the future.”

The extraordinary synergy between elementary schools, high school, colleges, universities, and local technology companies makes this event truly exceptional. Dr. Shawn Tennenbaum, Superintendent of San Benito High School District, underscores the significance: “Technology Innovation Day serves as a vital bridge between the classroom and the real world, serving as a powerful reminder to our students that their education knows no bounds in terms of potential and can indeed unlock doors to exciting careers right here in our community.”

Technology Innovation Day not only celebrates the present technological prowess and innovation within Hollister but also lays the foundation for a future where our community’s youth continue to push the boundaries of what’s achievable in the realm of technology and innovation.
