An array of Easter festivities are planned for this weekend. From egg hunts to Easter Sunday church services, local events between March 30 and March 31 are geared toward families and residents of all ages.
Easter is celebrated by the Christian church in commemoration of Jesus Christās resurrection.
Events
On March 30, Gateway Hollister is holding a free Easter egg hunt at 1 p.m. and at 2 p.m. Admission to all activities is free. There will be other festivities between noon and 3 p.m., including a bunny meet with pictures, local food trucks, bounce houses, a video game truck, face paint, raffle prizes and playground and lawn games. The event will be held at the Cerra Vista Elementary School at 2151 Cerra Vista Drive.
On March 30, The VFW Post 9242, The VFW Auxiliary, American Legion Post 69 and families have their annual Easter egg hunt at the Veterans Memorial Park. Two hunts are available. The first, at 10:30 a.m., is for children with special needs and has two age groups: 2-6 and 7-10. The second egg hunt at 1 p.m. will be divided into three age groups: 2-4, 5-7 and 8-10. Admission is free.
On March 30, 6th Street Studios & Art Center based in Gilroy has an egg hunt, a grab and go of pre-filled egg cartons, artful activities and an opportunity to see bunnies, chickens, a pony and a tortoise at 495 Caballo Court. Tickets are $20-$25.
On March 30, Legacy Church will hold a free community Easter egg hunt at noon at Rancho San Justo Middle School.
On March 30 and 31, Gilroy Gardens will have an Easter egg hunt at 3050 Hecker Pass Road in Gilroy. Regular park admission will be charged, but the event is free. The egg hunts are split into three different times for various age groups: 11 a.m. for ages 0 to 3; noon for 4-7 and 1 p.m. for 8-12. Bring your own baskets or bags from home for the egg hunt.
On March 31, Gateway Hollister is holding church services at 8:30 a.m., 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.
On March 31, Sunnyslope Christian Center is holding its Easter Sunday Service and Easter egg hunt at 1520 Sunnyslope Road. Services are at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. An Easter egg hunt will begin at 12:15 p.m. for childrens ages 3-11. Admission is free.
The BenitoLink Internship Program is a paid, skill-building program that prepares local youth for a professional career. This program is supported by Monterey Peninsula Foundation AT&T Golf Tour, United Way, Taylor Farms and the Emma Bowen Foundation.
