CASA receives Intero Foundation Grant

Grant will help provide care for local foster children

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of San Benito County received a grant from The Intero Foundation to advocate and serve the needs of foster children in San Benito County.

“We are honored and grateful for the generous support from the Intero Foundation,” said Esther Curtice, executive director of CASA. “Without the support of a caring community, it would be very difficult to continue our mission and the work we do with foster children from San Benito County. More child advocates are needed and the financial support from the Intero Foundation will enable us to train and assign more volunteers to advocate for foster children”.

Cathy Jackson, president of the Intero Foundation, stated, “I am proud that Intero is committed to the mission of the foundation.  Furthering the education and well-being of children in our community is a goal our entire team can support––and this grant is how we express our dedication.”  Money is raised for the Intero Foundation through the agents and employees of Intero in addition to fundraising events.

“As Realtors, we earn our living by serving the community, so when we formed Intero it was fundamental that we figured out a way to give back to those communities. We do this through the Intero Foundation,” said Gino Blefari, president and CEO of Intero Real Estate Services. The Intero Foundation presents grants to deserving organizations chosen by the members of Intero offices in different regions on a quarterly basis.

CASA of San Benito County was established in 2008 under the guidance and support of Voices for Children CASA of Monterey County. The nonprofit agency's mission is to train and support community volunteers to advocate for abused or neglected children placed in foster care by upholding the children’s rights while pursuing a safe and permanent home. Advocates focus on the best interest of the child, giving the children a voice and a consistent responsible adult who can advocate for them during a very difficult time in their life.
