As a former Naval Intelligence Officer it is encouraging to hear the leaders of the Republican party talk about the protection of Americans, both abroad and at home. The world has become an increasingly more dangerous place and I am confident that, with the help of Paul Ryan and others we can ensure safety and security for all Americans.

The Republican National Convention hit a high point on Tuesday when Donald Trump Jr. announced that his father would receive 89 votes from his home state of New York, making him the official nominee of the Republican Party.

Regarding the nomination of Mr. Trump, while I do not agree with many of his statements and positions, I am encouraged by the discussion of job creation, national security, support for law enforcement and support for small business. There is no doubt that we need to rebuild our economy and rebuild America's credibility in the world. The RNC Convention is the start of this process. There are over 100 days left in the campaign cycle and I am going to work hard to earn the votes of residents in this district and focus on the important issues facing the Central Coast.
