BenitoLink is pleased to announce that the Community Foundation for San Benito County has awarded our nonprofit news organization a $8,750 grant to support the completion and final publication of the Vision San Benito County Listening Session condensed report.
The grant will help pay for writing and editing a shorter, easier to digest report that captures the attitudes, concerns and dreams of San Benito residents in 2023-24. The 12-to-16-page document will be published to reflect outlooks, trends and commonalities among the 19 groups that met during the listening sessions. A photo exhibit and reception are planned to celebrate the project and final publication.
Executive Director Leslie David said, “This has been an amazing project in which BenitoLink learned a lot from in-person sessions with many different segments of our community.”
BenitoLink team members provided lunch and a comfortable setting (the new Community Foundation building in Hollister) to 19 varying groups of community members—including educators, seniors, agricultural workers, elected officials, youth and social services providers. “Our team was able to learn about residents’ needs, frustrations and their aspirations,” David said. “We also walked away with lessons about our improving our reporting methods and ways to serve our community better.”
