California Highway Patrol (CHP), Hollister-Gilroy Area personnel are investigating a crash that occurred in unincorporated San Benito County. The incident resulted in the death of a 48-year-old male resident of Hollister who was identified by the San Benito County Coroners office as Orlando Enriquez.

On February 22, 2026, at approximately 3:42 p.m., the CHP Monterey Communications Center received a report of a motorcycle crash on State Route 156 at Bixby Road.

Responding CHP Hollister-Gilroy Area officers arrived on scene and discovered a Harley-Davidson motorcycle with roll-over damage. The male rider of the Harley-Davidson was discovered next to the vehicle and succumbed to his injuries at a nearby hospital despite lifesaving efforts.

CHP Officer Moises Moncayo said there were two separate motorcycle incidents at the same time and place but that they did not crash into each other. The passenger of the other Harley-Davidson was transported to a nearby hospital with major injuries.

Preliminary investigation of the crash has yet to determine what led to the crash, and no potential causes have been ruled out.

“Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased,” stated Area Commander, Captain Noel Coady. “This incident serves as yet another reminder to minimize distractions when behind the wheel, avoid driving fatigued, and always designate a sober driver.”
