First 5 San Benito is excited to announce the inaugural Creating Connections Community Event, in partnership with the Resiliency Coalition, themed around building resilience and fostering connections within the community, from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, at the Veteran’s Memorial Hall in Hollister.
The Creating Connections Community Event invites individuals and families from across the community to participate in a range of activities aimed at enhancing personal and collective resilience. Hosted by First 5 San Benito and the Resiliency Coalition, this event will feature a comprehensive schedule of events tailored to various age groups and interests.
Schedule of Events:
- 3:00–5:00 p.m.: Share Resiliency Health Fair hosted by Samantha Hernandez
- Connect with local organizations offering resources and support.
- Participate in developmental and health screenings.
- 3:00– 7:00 p.m.: Social Media Blitz Booth
- Engage with interactive social media activities.
- Capture memories at the photo booth.
- 3:30– 4:30p.m.: Community Listening Session.
- Led by Dr. Barbara Stroud
- Explore strategies for promoting resilience in families
- 4:45 p.m.: Opening Remarks and Introduction of the Resiliency Coalition by San Benito County Supervisor Bea Gonzales
- 5:00 pm Dinner Reception
- 5:30 Social Determinants of Health Presentation by Lisa Colvig-Niclai, MA, Vice President of Applied Survey Research
- 5:55 Resilience Begins with Relationship by Keynote Speaker, Barbara Stroud, Ph.D,
- 6:50 pm: Closing Remarks and Raffle by Mayor of Hollister, Mia Casey
Spotlight on Keynote Speaker:
Dr. Barbara Stroud, Ph.D., is a renowned licensed psychologist, author, and trainer with expertise in cultural competence, early childhood development, and mental health. Throughout her distinguished career, Stroud has been a leading advocate for promoting resilience and well-being in individuals and communities. Her groundbreaking work in clinical practice and research has earned her widespread recognition and acclaim.
At the Creating Connections Community Event, Stroud will deliver a keynote presentation titled “Resilience Begins with Relationships.” Drawing upon her extensive experience and expertise, Stroud will explore the critical role of relationships in fostering resilience and empowering individuals to overcome adversity. Attendees will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights and practical strategies for promoting resilience in their own lives and communities.
