The San Benito County Fair extends to a four-day event this year and will open Thursday, Oc. 1 with country recording artist Dallas Smith in concert on the Main Stage at 8 p.m.

Armed with an arena-sized voice, Smith has amassed international appeal since making his American country debut with the infectious single “Tippin Point” and dominating the Canadian Country charts with songs like “Lifted” and the mulit-week #1 hit “Wastin’ Gas.”  Named one of the Huffington Post’s 15 Country Artists to Watch in 2015, Smith is the only Canadian male country artist to spend multiple weeks at the top of the Country Airplay Chart in the Nielsen BDS era.

“Tippin’ Point” set the record as the fastest Canadian country single to go gold in history and has been certified platinum.  Additionally, Smith topped SiriusXM’s The Highway Hot 45 Countdown, and he is the first Canadian country artist to have 8 singles reach the radio Top 10 in Canada.

The Vancouver, British Columbia native will vie for four honors on Sept. 13 at the 2015 CCMA Awards – Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, and Fans’ Choice of the Year.  Earlier this year he won the JUNO Award for Country Album of the Year.

Fair Manager/CEO Donnette Carter commented, “We are excited to offer this concert at our 92nd Fair. Dallas Smith is a very talented artist who is becoming more widely recognized and popular by the minute in the United States. His unique brand of country music will definitely be enjoyed by our guests. He will be a great kick-off to all of the fair action.”

The concert will be held on the Main Stage, and Carter noted that “Your ticket to the fair is your ticket to Dallas,” as fair admission is all that’s needed. “We look forward to this outstanding evening entertainment, and to a terrific fair filled with new and traditional offerings,” Carter said.

The San Benito County Fair is scheduled for Oct. 1-4 at Bolado Park Event Center in Tres Pinos, south of Hollister.  Fair Horse Show activities happen Sept. 25-28 in the Grandstand Arena.  Full fair activities include daily grounds entertainment, livestock shows, commercial exhibitors, food concessions, and the Midway of Fun.  Additionally, fair guests can enjoy the sand drag and truck pulls by Class Act Promotions, the Taste of San Benito, All Alaskan Racing Pigs, and the Junior Livestock and AgHort Auctions.
