The YMCA of San Benito County invites the community to celebrate a meaningful milestone, one year managing the Baler Aquatic Center, with an Anniversary Pool Party honoring expanded access, community connection, and water safety impact.

Over the past year, the YMCA of San Benito County’s partnership with Hollister High School has transformed the Baler Aquatic Center into a welcoming, year-round community resource. Since taking on management, the YMCA has served hundreds of members, provided swim lessons to more than 1,500 youth ranging from infants to teens, and expanded opportunities for lap swim, family swim, community nights, and special events.

Beyond programming, the Aquatic Center has also become a hub for youth leadership and workforce development, employing and training local high school students as lifeguards and swim instructors while fostering confidence, responsibility, and career pathways.

“This past year has been incredibly rewarding, as I’ve had the joy of building a dedicated team of lifeguards and swim instructors to expand access to water safety and healthy living to all while watching many gain confidence, skills, and a love for the water through our programming,” said Xenia Murga, Aquatics Coordinator.

The anniversary pool party will feature open swim, facility tours, and activities to celebrate the impact made and the future ahead!
