Book Signing

February 21, 2015

Local author, John Chadwell, will be offering all seven of his novels during a book signing at Mars Hill in Hollister, Feb. 21, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Chadwell has made a career as a freelance copywriter and photographer. He has also written several screenplays. Four years ago, he began writing novels. His works range from a Christian-themed horror story (Werewolves of New Idria) that takes place in Hollister and the abandoned mining town, New Idria; a modern-day pirate story (Hunt of the Sea Wolves); science fiction (Legends and Liars) about miners in the Asteroid Belt; a fact-based drama about a police officer who infiltrates two drug cartels (Major Crime Unit: Operation Casablanca); a historical novel (Pershing-The Soldiers’ General), and his two most recent works, Last Sunrise (a western) and a sci-fi western (The Kid and Wild Bill).

“I like to bring all my books to a signing,” Chadwell said. “I’ve found that a woman might pick Last Sunrise, then choose Hunt of the Sea Wolves for her husband, and maybe The Kid and Wild Bill for a child. I enjoy writing in many genres because I like to read them myself.”

Chadwell is already working on his next novel, a sequel to Werewolves of New Idria. “The first book skims 900 years of history of the Aceves family that are werewolves who fight on the side of God,” he said. “My idea was to go back and pick up the family’s history and many points along the way in future books. The next one begins where the first left off, then goes back to the year 1095 and the First Crusade. I’m a history buff and this give me the opportunity to try to make history interesting for readers by inserting my werewolf clan at various points over the last nine hundred years.”

Chadwell hopes to have the book ready before the end of the year.
