Community Blood Drive

Old Mission San Juan Bautista parish will sponsor its seventh annual community blood drive from 9:00am to 1:00pm on Sunday, March 9, 2014, at Casa Maria at the Old Mission, 600 First Street, San Juan Bautista. The bloodmobile will be located in the parking lot and blood will be drawn by the staff of Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula’s Blood Center. New this year, donors will receive a Baskin Robbins “Pint for a Pint” ice cream coupon.

Potential blood donors must be 17 years of age and above. There is no upper age limit for healthy people, but, all donors must be in good health and weigh at least 110 pounds. In addition, potential donors should bring a photographic identification and have eaten and drunk fluids prior to presenting themselves at the registration table.

Blood is continuously needed for stroke patients, cancer patients, unexpected surgeries and accidents. It cannot be manufactured and the constant demand can be met only by regular donations of healthy volunteer donors.

Blood is the most precious gift one can give to another. It is never too late to start to donate one’s blood to save a life.
