Dia de Los Muertos art workshops coming to El Teatro Campesino

El Teatro Campesino welcomes you to a series of Free Community Art Making Workshops at the El Teatro Campesino Playhouse in September and October. The community is invited to join them to prepare for the Dia de Los Muertos celebration by lending us a hand as you are guided through creating large masks & puppets to be used at the November 2 festivities. All ages and experience levels are welcome.

Projects :
-Three Large Scale Alebrije Puppets
-Two Large Calavera Masks
-Large Banner for our Procession
-Paper Flowers

Mask & Puppet Workshops will be organized into the following Phases:
Phase 1: Intro to Mask & Puppets, Design & Mold Creation
Phase 2: Adding Paper Mache layers
Phase 3: Painting & Techniques
Phase 4: Movement

The series will end with Altar Making Workshop with Guest Artisan Claudia Lopez Claudia will help contextualize the altar tradition and its various elements as well as guide us through the creation of Campesino’s Community Altar.
