Free 17th Annual Marian Filice Youth Piano Competition Returns In-Person

After being held remotely last year, the FREE 17th Annual Marian Filice Youth Piano Competition and Music Festival returns in-person to the Gavilan campus in Gilroy on Sunday, March 6thstarting at 9 am. The competition showcases students in 5th through 12th grades. The Awards Ceremony will be held around 3 pm. The Music Festival starts right after the competition and will feature musicians of all ages.

Maria Amirkhanian, Music faculty and longtime Coordinator of the event shared:

“We are so excited to bring this community competition back for an incredible in-person experience! Live music carries a richer resonance when it is witnessed in-person. All of our contestants are looking forward to showcasing their pieces.” 

This event is FREE to the entire community, but the following safety protocols must be followed in order to attend.

– Adults must show proof of vaccination at the door

– Adults must have Photo ID

– Attendees must scan in before entering the Theater

– Masks will be required indoors

– Subject to change based on current Public Health Guidelines

The competition is named after Marian Filice.  Mrs. Filice was an active member in our community. She taught piano privately and was a huge supporter of the arts. Her passion for the piano inspired generations. The Gavilan College Music Program hopes that the competition will inspire young musicians in the community and encourage them to strive for musical excellence.
