Prescribed Fire Workshop in San Benito County

June 6, 2019 @ 8:00 am - 2:00 pm

June 5: Come learn about options for prescribed fire on private lands, including details on regulations and permits, unit preparation, burn planning, and more!

June 6: Workshop participants will have the opportunity to participate in a live-fire training in Bitterwater (weather permitting). Please wear long pants, long sleeved shirt (natural fibers only), leather boots, and bring sunglasses and leather gloves.

Date: June 5, 2019
Time: 8:00 am to 4:30 pm
Location: Hollister Veteran’s Memorial Building, 649 San Benito St, Hollister, CA
Coffee, refreshments and lunch will be provided on June 5.

Date: June 6, 2019
Time: 8:00 am to 2:00 pm (weather permitting)
Location: Selleck-Ivens Ranch, 46340 Airline Highway in King City (Bitterwater)
Light refreshment will be provided but bring your own lunch and water on June 6.

Cost: $30.

The workshop will be led by Lenya Quinn-Davidson, UCCE Fire Advisor, and Jeff Stackhouse, UCCE Livestock and Natural Resources Advisor. Lenya and Jeff are based in Humboldt County, where the Humboldt County Prescribed Burn Association has burned more than 900 acres on private properties in the last two years. Phil Dye of Prometheus Fire Consulting LLC is a CICCS qualified Type 2 Burn Boss and will be leading the burn on June 6.
