Hollister High School To Turn Up the Volume with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock The Musical
Get ready to pledge allegiance to the band! Hollister High School (HHS) is prepared to blow the roof off the auditorium this March as they present the high-octane, feel-good hit, Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock The Musical.
Based on the beloved cult-classic film, the story follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn an extra bit of cash by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There, he turns a class of straight-A pupils into a guitar-shredding, mind-blowing rock band.

Jula Prak, the vocal director of the show stated, this production isn’t just a show; it’s a full-scale rock concert brought to life by a dedicated student and faculty collaboration. Over the last eight weeks, the cast and crew have lived and breathed the “School of Rock” lifestyle, transforming from students into a cohesive, high-energy team.

Under the direction of first year drama teacher and HHS alum Aislinn Barnes, the stage is set for a performance that balances heart-pounding energy with a touching story about finding your own voice.

“Watching these 27 students evolve over the last two months has been nothing short of electric,” says Ms. Barnes. “They haven’t just memorized lines; they’ve embraced the soul of the music. I am incredibly proud of the grit and heart they’ve poured into every single rehearsal. They are ready to show Hollister what it means to truly ‘stick it to the man!'”

The musical landscape is guided by Vocal Director Angela Prak, ensuring every anthem hits the rafters, while choreographers Sherlyn Rodriguez and Cam Burchard bring the electric movement of the rock world to the HHS stage.

“The growth we’ve seen in eight weeks is staggering,” adds Rodriguez and Burchard. “From the first choreography day to dress rehearsals, these kids have proven that they are ready to shine in front of an audience.”

In addition to the talented actors, HHS School of Rock also has a very talented group of students who will be doing all of the technical work behind the scenes from props, lights, sets, and sound. Finally rounding out the experience is a live band that will be performing all of the show’s music adding a more professional and robust feel to the show.

All performances will take place at the HHS Auditorium starting at 7:00 PM on the following dates:
Week 1: March 19, 20, 21
Week 2: March 25, 26, 27
