After a long lead-up to the November general election, all of the campaign promises will either bear fruit or fall flat on Tuesday. Check in with BenitoLink for local, regional and state results starting at 8:05 p.m., when the county elections office is scheduled to start releasing unofficial results.

The elections office is reporting that 28,222 people are registered to vote in San Benito County, which in recent elections has been dubbed a bellwether in presidential elections by reliably predicting or mirroring the winning percentage, typically within about 1 percent.

In addition to the presidential race and other statewide races and propositions, there is plenty of intrigue locally, from congressional and assembly races to the mayor of Hollister, city council seats in Hollister and San Juan Bautista, a host of school board races and two school bond measures. Hollister voters will also decide whether to extend the 1 cent sales tax for 20 years beyond its scheduled 2018 expiration date.

BenitoLink reporters will be covering all of the local races, providing results, quotes and analysis starting Tuesday night and running throughout the week as results are finalized. The county elections office will update results online throughout the evening starting at 8:05 p.m. at this link.
