Representative Sam Farr (D-Calif.) on Aug. 2 announced that Pacific Scientific Energetic Materials Company (PacSci EMC) in Hollister was awarded a $9,755,179 contract from the U.S. Air Force to manufacture an emergency escape system for C-17’s to make it easier for troops and crew to disembark the aircraft during an emergency.

“Ensuring the safety of our troops serving across the world is a great responsibility and honor,” Farr said in a press release. “PacSci EMC, the largest employer in Hollister, has long provided our military with state of the art equipment that allows them to carry out their critical missions. I’m very pleased to support our troops and our local economy at the same time.”

Farr has visited the Hollister facility several times.

“We take great pride in helping our military personnel return home safely,” said PacSci EMC President, Gregory J. Scaven. “We have been manufacturing the C-17 emergency escape system for 27 years and remain committed to providing a proven system which allows for the safest possible emergency evacuation.  We are honored the U.S. Air Force continues to demonstrate confidence in PacSci EMC’s ability to produce highly reliable products and solutions.”
