The Marley Holte Holiday Dinners held its 39th annual Thanksgiving event at Sacred Heart Parish School in Hollister on Nov. 27.

“The purpose is to feed people in the community, make sure that everyone has a home cooked meal for Thanksgiving and Christmas,” Social Media Manager Lexi Chavarria said. “We’re just making sure everyone is taken care of.”

She said she has been part of the event since she was six years old.

The event relies on volunteers and board members of the nonprofit organization who help prepare and serve food, and sponsors and community members who contribute with donations, she said.

“We were serving turkeys, mashed potatoes, vegetables, gravy and stuffing,” Chavarria said. “We cook about 27 turkeys and 30 pies.”
