Frances was born and raised in Paicines attending Willow Grove School and graduated in 1947 from San Benito High. After living and working in Gilroy for 30 years she returned to Hollister where she was a homemaker and cared for her grandchildren. She loved to cook with many of her signature dishes created simply by putting her own twist to the recipe. Frances continued to make traditional foods from Spain including tortillas and Montecow cookies so loved by her family. She loved doing handcrafts and crocheted beanies, scarves and blankets. Frances painted barns and flowers on canvas or anything she could find from rocks to wood that needed to be brought to life with a bee, flower or a saying of love, kindness or gratitude. She had a green thumb and never stopped adding to her eclectic garden taking great pride as passerby’s stopped to talk and comment on her colorful yard. Frances spent her last years at Mabie Skilled Nursing Facilities where she always told family how well she was cared for. She was happiest in the Activity Department where she could continue her love of crafts, play games and looked forward to the special events when residents were entertained by the talented staff. She will always be remembered for her fun personality, sense of humor and her favorite saying: “Bee Happy“
