San Leandro resident Richard Alvarez has been identified as the motorcyclist who was killed in the July 5 solo motorcycle crash at the Bert Drive/San Felipe Road roundabout, according to the San Benito County Sheriff’s Office.Â
The exact cause of death is still under investigation through the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office. The information will be made available to the San Benito County Sheriff’s Department 12 to 16 weeks after the date of death, Sgt. Bryan Penney said.
According to the California Highway Patrol, at approximately 3:37 p.m. on July 5, the 64-year-old man was traveling northbound on San Felipe Road on his motorcycle.
Penney said that Alvarez lost control of his motorcycle while traveling through the roundabout on San Felipe road and crashed.
Alvarez was transported to Hazel Hawkins Hospital and was later pronounced dead as a result of the injuries he sustained during the accident.
