Beginning Jan. 1, Pinnacles National Park will be increasing their entrance fees to $25 per vehicle, $20 per motorcycle, and $12 per individual (pedestrian or bicyclist) for a seven-day entrance pass. The annual park pass will also increase to $50. Camping fees will remain the same. Entrance fees are not changed for people under 16 years of age or holders of the America the Beautiful – The National Parks and Federal Recreational Annual, Senior, Access, Military, or Volunteer passes. These passes can be obtained at the park.Â
For a full list a price changes see table below.Â
This change comes as a result of a civic engagement campaign where the public was encouraged to comment on the fee increases that took place from August to September 2017. Based on that input and nationwide goals to standardize entrance fees, the park decided to move forward with the increases in January.Â
“Entrance fees are crucial to funding facility improvement projects, visitor services, and resource protection efforts,” said Pinnacles National Park Superintendent Karen Beppler-Dorn. “after carefully considering the impact of this increase to our visitors and our gateway communities, we decided that this was the best course of action for the park.”Â
The current National Park Service fee program allows parks to retain 80% of funds collected allowing for enhanced visitor services like the rehabilitation of the Bear Valley School, construction of vault toilets to replace portable facilities and the building of a new entrance station on the east side of the park. The remaining 30% goes into a fund to support park units where fees are not charged.Â
