Miss San Benito Rodeo Contest:
This competition gives young ladies the opportunity to show off their personality and horsemanship. Contestants will be judged on Horsemanship, Communication Skills, Appearance and Poise, Presentation, and Scholarship. Miss San Benito will represent the Saddle Horse Show & Rodeo throughout the following year. Compitition took place June 7.
Downtown Parade:
With the help of the Hollister Downtown Association, our very popular Saddle Horse Show & Rodeo Parade in downtown Hollister will be held on June 21 at 11:00 a.m. Fans will experience a real live cattle drive through the streets of downtown Hollister and see their friends and family in western attire as we celebrate our local history.
Figure 8 Eliminations / Jackpot Roping / Membership BBQ Lunch:
June 22 at 8:00 am starts out with eliminations for the unique event of Figure 8 Roping, also known as the “San Benito Toss.” A very popular Jackpot Roping for qualifying contestants will immediately follow. The Membership BBQ Lunch will take place at 1:30 pm under the trees in the picnic area at Bolado Park Event Center. Tickets will be sold at the BBQ and everyone is welcome to enjoy a great steak BBQ.
Saddle Horse Show & Rodeo Performances:
Day 1: June 27 begins with eliminations at 8:00 am at Bolado Park Event Center and is free to the public. That evening is our Public Safety Appreciation Night. We will have members of our local public safety in the grand entry and express a special thank you for their important work in our community. The fun begins at 4:30 pm with our Wine & Beer Tasting in front of the grandstands. Enjoy shopping at our Western Arts & Equipment Tent from 4:00 pm – 10:00 pm along with dinner options at the variety of food vendors. Be sure to pick up the official San Benito County Horse Show & Rodeo merchandise. Grandstands open at 5:30 pm for the rodeo performance with the Grand Entry beginning at 6:30 pm.
Day 2: June 28 starts out with the Halter Horse Show judging in the U-Barn area of Bolado Park at 8:00 am, Dally Team Roping eliminations at 8:30 am and our San Benito County Saddle Horse Special Rodeo will begin at 10:00 am at the arena. We will again be partnering with Cooper’s Calling for this event. Our Western Arts & Equipment Tent hours are 11:00 am – 6:00 pm. Day 2 is our Patriotic Appreciation Day. We will celebrate everything for the United States of America! Gates open at 12:30 pm for the rodeo performance with the Grand Entry beginning at 1:30 pm. Our very popular Cowboy BBQ Dinner & Dance begins at 5:00 pm. Relax and enjoy good food, good company, music, dancing, and an auction on The Patio.
Day 3: June 29 is our Spanish Heritage Day. We will celebrate with Mariachi’s in front of the grandstands at 11:00 am and a Charro performance during the rodeo. The Western Arts & Equipment Tent will be open from 11:00 am – 6:00 pm. Gates open at 12:30 pm for the rodeo with the Grand Entry beginning at 1:30 pm. We crown our All-Around Champions following the rodeo.
