A teen’s birthday party on the 900 block of Nash Road in Hollister was the scene of a shooting Jan. 27. Hollister police said two homes were struck in the process and that no injuries were reported. The two homes were in an apartment complex.

Sergeant Bo Leland said Feb. 2 that the shooter, or shooters, were on foot and left the scene in a car.

Leland told BenitoLink, “Several of the people who were attending the party had stepped outside, and the shooting occurred shortly after they came back inside.”

Leland said police believe there was only one shooter, but they will not be able to identify the number of guns involved until a ballistics comparison is made.

Leland said, “The California Department of Justice says unless there’s a suspect in custody, a handgun to compare it to, or there was a person injured by the gunfire, it’s unlikely they will do a ballistics comparison on the shell castings just because they don’t have the money or the staffing to do it.”

Leland added that many people in the area have home surveillance systems and police are still reviewing footage to see if there are images of the suspect leaving or entering the area.

Police at this point have found no motive for the shooting.

Hollister Police Department asks that anyone with information about the incident call 831-636-4331.
