The Jewish new year begins Sunday night, Sept. 9.  Those looking for a spiritual home to observe the holiday are welcome at Temple Beth El.

Temple Beth El in Salinas provides a warm, family friendly Jewish community for not only Salinas, but surrounding communities as well. This includes Hollister, San Juan Bautista and Gilroy, as well as south to King City.

Cantor Margaret Bruner, religious leader of Temple Beth El in Salinas, will be joined by student Rabbi Elana Nemitoff to lead this year’s High Holy Day services.

Elana is a rising fifth-year rabbinical student at Hebrew Union College who also received her Masters degree in Jewish Educational Leadership. She will offer a variety of sermons and teachings during the High Holy Days, and lead a Torah study on Yom Kippur.

Cantor Bruner will lead the Temple Beth El High Holy Day choir. Local jazz trumpet player Stan Soroken will blow the Shofar and Cellist Ari Freedman will play the hauntingly beautiful melody of “Kol Nidre”.

For young families, there will be a childrens’ service on Yom Kippur afternoon.

All are welcome, however a donation is requested for non-members and guests.

There will be a variety of services and activities held over the High Holy Days from September 9-19.  For a complete list of dates and times, visit the Temple’s website at www.TempleBethElSalinas.org, or call 424-9151.
