The County is pleased to announce the commencement of the Union Road Rehabilitation Project. This project represents an important investment in improving roadway conditions, safety, and long-term infrastructure reliability along Union Road. The construction includes roadway repaving and essential underground work to support long-term durability and serviceability. The early phases of the project focus on site preparation and utility investigations to ensure safe, efficient construction operations. Graniterock, the project contractor, has initiated mobilization and preparatory work, with subsurface investigation and underground utility work continuing through early April.

The project began on March 23, 2026, and is anticipated to be completed by June 26, 2026; the construction timeline is weather-dependent and may be adjusted as needed.

Construction activities are scheduled for Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with work extending up to 5:00 p.m. when necessary to maintain project progress. Work hours and schedules may vary depending on weather conditions and operational needs.

Motorists traveling along Union Road may experience temporary lane closures, minor delays, and the presence of construction crews and equipment, as well as increased truck traffic in the area. Traffic control measures will be in place to minimize disruptions, and all work will be conducted with safety as the highest priority.

San Benito County is committed to completing this project efficiently while maintaining clear communication with the public. Updates will be provided as the project progresses.
