The 17th annual San Benito County Veterans Day Parade promises to be the biggest and best yet. This year all San Benito County World War II Veterans will be honored as Grand Marshals.Â
Volunteers with classic cars will provide transportation in the parade for these distinguished honorees. VFW Post 9242 also invites any and all veterans to ride along with them on their floart.Â
Spectators and participants alike will enjoy patriotic floats, classic cars, equestrian units, school groups, emergency agencies, marching bands and much more!
The parade, sponsored by VFW Post 9242, will be held as the finale for Veterans Day activities on Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018. The parade starts at 1:30 p.m. and the parade route runs through downtown Hollister. Applications for the parade are available at the Veterans Memorial Building, or by calling (831) 638-6434 and will be accepted through Nov. 8.Â
There is no entry fee for this parade.
Other activities for the day that will take place at the Veteran’s Memorial Building are:
- 10Â a.m. Â Veterans Benefit Fair
- 10:30 a.m. Banner Presentations
- 11Â a.m. Memorial Ceremony
- 12 p.m. BBQ Lunch
The banner presentations feature installing banners on the light post in the Veteran’s Memorial Building Plaza and along San Benito Street that individually honor our local active duty military personnel. The banners will remain in place until the service member is deactivated.
If you have a family member that is a WWII Veteran and would like to ride in the parade, or be recognized, please contact Frankie Gallagher at (831) 638-6434.Â
