Monterey Bay Economic Partnership

Kish Rajan, director of the California Governor’s Office of Business & Economic Development (GObiz), will be among the noted speakers taking part in the Monterey Bay Economic Partnership’s 2015 Regional Economic Forecast on Jan. 29 at the Embassy Suites Monterey Bay. Rajan, speaking on “Economic Development in California and the Monterey Bay Region,” will include an update on the California Competes Tax Credit, an income tax credit available to businesses that want to come to California or stay and grow here.

Confirmed speakers also include Bud Colligan, founder and CEO of South Swell Ventures; Tim Rainey, executive director of the California Workforce Investment Board; and Robert Tse, Head of Regional Rural Economic, Broadband, Ag Tech Development strategies at USDA-CA-Rural Development. Steve Blum of Tellus Venture Associates will give an update on regional broadband issues and the Central Coast Broadband Consortium.

Nationally renowned economist Chris Thornberg, founder of Beacon Economics, will present the 2015 Regional Economic Forecast for San Benito, Santa Cruz and Monterey counties. Panel discussions to follow will include Marine Science Research (the “Blue Economy”), Advancing Manufacturing, Food Processing, and Technology.  

Early Bird registration is now underway at $75 per person. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Entry at the door is $90. Doors will open at 7:30 a.m. and breakfast will be served at 8 a.m.
