Acts of Kindness Program

The story behind the mascot for the parade, Jaime the Elf, was written by local artist, Kathleen Sheridan in 1995. In the quest for her Elfhood, Jaime discovers that only in the light of love, peace and hope does the true spirit of the season shine. "Jaime the Elf" is a story about the true meaning of the holiday season, and encourages children to think about what acts of kindness they can do during the holiday season to help Jaime light up downtown Hollister.

The 23rd Annual Lights On Celebration will include an Acts of Kindness Program where children in grades K-8 can submit their own "Acts of Kindness" with the chance of riding on the official Lights On Celebration Float. We will post as many submissions as possible in a downtown location during the Lights On Celebration. "Jaime the Elf" books will be available at the Holiday Boutique where Kathleen Sheridan will be on hand for a book-signing.
